Maintenance
Maintenance workers optimize the systems which provide a comfortable environment in which we work and live in every day. They perform the daily maintenance on the mechanical systems to ensure a productive living and working environment. Local 9 members are on-site 24-hours a day at many locations in Central New Jersey.
In order to perform the maintenance on many systems certain licenses are required. Local 9 trains our mechanics to gain their stationary boiler operators license. Our members are trained in all of the following levels:
- Black
- Blue
- Red
- Gold (Highest License you can Receive)
The following categories of workers may require a Boiler Operator License in order to perform the necessary tasks:

These workers will perform any maintenance task assigned to them that is within their skill level that is traditionally performed by in-house maintenance staffs within the industry as a whole.
The following shall be performed under the jurisdiction of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 9 Collective Bargaining Agreement:
- New construction

It is expressly recognized that work performed under this particular Agreement is limited only, in its application, to traditional building operations.
